How to Install Softaculous on a Linux cpanel/WHM Dedicated or Virtual Private Server?

You can install Softaculous on your dedicated server or VPS only if you have the root acces, with user access you can not do that.  so before installing, make sure you have cPanel installed on your dedicated server or Virtual Private Server. For the purpose of installing Softaculous, you need to perform these steps.

Step 1: To avoid yourself from an error at the end of installation, you must switch on IonCube through WHM >> Server Configuration >> Tweak Settings

Other wise at the end of installation, you could get this error

Site error: the file /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/softaculous/enduser/main/functions.php requires the ionCube
PHP Loader ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so to be installed by the site administrator.

 

Step 2: Now, login into your dedicated server using root through any ssh client like putty.

Step 3: Now use below given commands to download that software from the owner site. You must keep in mind the pat given below must be entered correctly.

[root@localhost ~]# cd /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi
[root@localhost ~]# wget -N http://www.softaculous.com/ins/addon_softaculous.php
[root@localhost ~]# chmod 755 addon_softaculous.php

Step 4:  When you done that all commands, close the putty client and come back to Cpanel/WHM interface, refresh it if you have al ready opened it in your browser, once you refreshed it you will find that installation here WHM >> Plugins/Add-Ons >> Softaculous – Instant Installs.

Now you or your user can use so many software and plugin directly through cpanel.
