What does 100 Mbps national and 10 Mbps international mean?
In Chile, domestic bandwidth is considerably cheaper than international transit. Your server therefore has two allocations: up to 100 Mbps for traffic exchanged with Chilean networks and up to 10 Mbps for traffic going to or coming from other countries. For a website or application whose users are mostly in Chile, the national allocation handles the bulk of the load. If you expect significant international traffic, such as visitors from Europe or North America, consider using a CDN for static content or discuss a larger international allocation with our team.
How does on-demand DDoS protection work?
Rather than filtering all traffic permanently, the Santiago network activates DDoS mitigation when an attack is detected or when you request it. Once active, malicious traffic is diverted and filtered so legitimate visitors can continue using your services. This approach keeps costs lower while still providing protection when it matters. If your project is frequently targeted, for example a competitive game server, let us know when ordering so the team can prepare protection in advance and respond quickly to incidents.
Which storage option should I choose in Santiago?
The smaller plans offer two 1 TB SATA drives or two 250 GB SSDs, and the larger plans offer two 2 TB SATA drives or two 500 GB SSDs, with the dual Xeon offering three 2 TB drives or two 1 TB SSDs. Choose SSDs if your application relies on fast database access or quick page generation. Choose SATA drives if you need more space for files, backups or media. In either case, configuring the two drives as RAID 1 provides redundancy, so a single disk failure does not bring your server down.
Is unlimited transfer really unlimited?
Transfer is not measured against a monthly quota, so you can use your bandwidth allocations continuously for normal business, media and application traffic. The fair-use policy exists to prevent abuse, such as network attacks or reselling bandwidth in ways that harm other customers. Ordinary websites, stores, streaming of moderate volumes and backups are well within fair use. If your application requires sustained heavy international traffic, contact us first so we can recommend the right setup. Nightly offsite backups to another Chilean site are a typical example of acceptable heavy use.
How long does it take to deploy a Chilean server?
Most Santiago servers are delivered within 24 to 72 hours after payment is confirmed. The facility prepares the hardware, installs your operating system and configures the network. Because these plans have just been added to our website, contact our sales team before ordering to confirm stock and reserve the configuration you need. If a specific model is not immediately available, we will suggest the nearest alternative so your project can start on schedule. Orders submitted on a Friday evening in Santiago are usually delivered on Monday.
Can I host .cl domains and Spanish content here?
Yes. You can host any number of websites, including .cl domains and Spanish-language content, on your Santiago server. A Chilean IP address and local hosting help sites load quickly for domestic users and support local relevance in search results. Agencies juggling several Chilean clients usually add Plesk so each business gets its own login, mailboxes and certificate without touching the others. Remember that .cl registrations are handled by NIC Chile, and you simply point their DNS records to your new server's IP once it is live.
Why is the Chilean range priced higher than other regions?
Hosting costs in Chile reflect the price of local connectivity, power and imported hardware. International bandwidth in particular is expensive in South America. Our pricing is designed to be competitive within the Chilean market while providing genuine domestic hosting on reputable carriers. For businesses whose customers are primarily in Chile, the improvement in performance and reliability often outweighs the price difference compared with hosting overseas. If your audience is spread more widely, we can suggest alternatives in Brazil or Argentina.
What happens if a component fails in Santiago?
Hardware support is included with every server. When a drive, memory module or power supply fails, technicians at the Peñalolén facility replace it, typically within hours of the issue being reported. Because every Chilean plan has two drives, configuring RAID 1 allows the server to keep running while a failed disk is swapped. We still recommend regular backups to another location, since RAID does not protect against accidental deletion or malware. Our monitoring also flags failing drives early through SMART warnings where available.
