What does "UDP ports may be closed" mean for my project?
Some network protocols rely on UDP rather than TCP. These include WireGuard, many game servers, VoIP systems using SIP and RTP, DNS servers and certain streaming protocols. At the Tbilisi location, UDP ports may be closed, so these services might not work as expected. Websites, APIs, databases, email, SSH and other TCP-based services are unaffected. If you need a VPN, OpenVPN configured over TCP usually works. If UDP is essential to your project, contact support before ordering and we will confirm the current status or suggest another location.
Is Tbilisi a good base for relocated IT teams?
Yes. Thousands of developers, designers and product teams have settled in Georgia in recent years, and a Tbilisi server keeps their infrastructure a few milliseconds from where they actually work. Git pushes, remote builds and internal dashboards feel instant compared with servers in Western Europe. Teams commonly host staging copies, CI runners, password managers and wiki tools on one or two instances, then add capacity as headcount grows. Because payment works by card, PayPal or cryptocurrency, a team can get started while company bank accounts are still being opened, which often takes several weeks for newcomers.
How soon can I start using my Tbilisi server?
Georgian servers are typically online three to twenty-four hours after the order is paid, and often sooner. Your login details and client-area access arrive by email together with the assigned address, and any panel or system you picked at checkout is set up in advance. Orders are processed seven days a week. If you plan to host services that use UDP, mention it in the order notes so our team can confirm availability before your server goes live. That small step avoids surprises for projects such as game servers, SIP telephony or WireGuard tunnels.
Can I host an online shop for Georgian customers?
Yes. WooCommerce, OpenCart, PrestaShop and other platforms run well on a Tbilisi VPS, and local hosting makes pages and checkout steps load faster for customers in Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi. Georgian payment gateways integrate through standard plugins or APIs. A plan with two to four cores and plenty of RAM suits most shops, and NVMe storage keeps product searches fast. Georgian-language content, which uses its own script, displays correctly with standard UTF-8 settings on the server and in the database.
Which operating systems are available?
You can choose CentOS 7 or CentOS Stream, Ubuntu and Debian in older and current versions, AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux, along with Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019 and Windows 10 Pro. KVM virtualization runs all of them natively. Windows is priced the same as Linux. If you need a specialised distribution, you can request a custom ISO. Reinstalls are available at any time, making it easy to switch operating systems as your project evolves without ordering a new server.
Can I get a faster port than 1 Gbps?
Yes. Tbilisi plans start with a 1 Gbps shared port, and higher speeds up to 10 Gbps are available for workloads that need them, such as large file distribution, streaming or data synchronisation. Contact support with details of your expected traffic, and we will confirm pricing and availability. Traffic remains unlimited at all speeds. For most websites, APIs and business applications, the standard 1 Gbps port is more than sufficient, so start there and upgrade only if monitoring shows the port is becoming a bottleneck.
Who fixes things if my Tbilisi server has a problem?
That depends on where the problem sits. If the virtual machine freezes, a disk fails or the facility's network misbehaves, our engineers take over: they restart the VM from the hypervisor, replace hardware and chase the fault with the upstream carriers. If a website shows an error, a service will not start or a firewall rule locks you out, the fix lies inside your operating system, which you manage. Even then, the console in the client area usually lets you recover, and our team will explain how to check the most likely causes, including UDP restrictions.
Will Georgian banks and government portals treat my server as local?
In most cases, yes. The Tbilisi addresses belong to a Georgian range, and the main geolocation databases place them in Tbilisi, so services that check a visitor's country see a local connection. That is useful when testing Georgian payment pages, e-government integrations or regionally restricted media. Providers refresh their records on different schedules, so a newly issued address can take a few days to appear correctly in all of them. If one still shows another country after that, send us the details and we will ask the provider to correct its entry.
